❭ Little Snitch 4.3.2
This is not some deep cryptography shit...
This software seems to exist for people who (correctly) don't trust their own computer's software, and want to keep tabs on it.
I don't. They're not targeting me. If you don't know that an area of water bordered by land on three sides has comments on their pages, you're not very well versed in the Internet.
LuLu by Objective see is another popular opinion amongst Mac users who wish to keep a check on their system’s network activity. The reason for its popularity is because the software is open source, has no ads whatsoever, and comes with all features.
That depends on your POV. Is iTunes phoning home legitimate traffic? Maybe for some/most, but I certainly block those attempts, to me iTunes is just a nuisance app, like GarageBand and a few others. LS does an excellent job at selecting the vital connections as valid and then let you decide if you want to tell Apple & Microsoft & Friends more or if you actually preferred the OS would not.
For the second one, you'll need to pick the .lsrules files you're interested in, access the raw files (should look like ), and paste the urls into Little Snitch's 'New Rule Group Subscription' wizard, one at a time. There are approximately 10k rules per file, so your computer might choke on it for an instant, but it'll be fine.

Another benefit is that once I get over the initial rule configuration hump (and it is a real PITA for the first week or two) what I end up seeing are the anomalies and so I can pay closer attention to what has changed or where something is trying to connect that I might want to think about. I wouldn't bother installing Little Snitch. But these days security is in the high seat. Can you avoid any attack from the Internet with Little Snitch? Possibly. It's the approach to the interface of Little Snitch I dislike the most. The never ending growing list of apps and services piling up in the Little Snitch Configuration. The newer Little Snitch 4 looks rather nice interface-wise. Some new things that might get me more inclined to use this app in the future. Basically I'm all over the place with opinions and have no clear agenda other than to perhaps dive in and experience Little Snitch yourself. Yes, I used to use it and had it set up like this. You create one profile which basically allows only the VPN negotiation daemon to access the network, and then another profile where there is no alerting or blocking. 4 star 28 Enhance performance of launching Little Snitch components with large rule sets. The utility lets you drill down nearly everywhere. The default view offers simple details that shouldn’t frighten someone with no real technical knowledge as long as they get what a domain name represents and what apps are trying to do. Click a button here and there—like a downward-pointing arrow to the left of the Deny button—and you can expand options and limit choices. For instance, you can approve connections to all ports on a domain, or click on the allow/deny dialog to specify a port. (An IP address is a destination, like an apartment building; a port is like a specific apartment within the building.) App Info Why are OSX applications in general so bad at telling website users which platforms they support? Like always, I have to keep digging around in the website, just to find out that it only runs on OSX...
